THE CONTOUR
The SC6 borrows from vintage basses their contour and roundness. A solid body in french walnut and sycamore maple, adorned with a quilted maple top, it holds a long sustain carried by the neck-through construction. At 4.2 kg, this six-string weighs no more than a four-string.
THE PICKUPS
Two soapbar humbuckers, hand-made and hand-wound by Dreamsongs Pickups for De Leeuw. Each splits to a single coil: the SC6 moves from a full, modern voice to the snap of a JazzBass.
THE ELECTRONICS
A Mike Pope preamp, three-band EQ, completed by a tone control dedicated to passive mode. A push/pull potentiometer switches from active to passive: for the console to choose its voice, for the bass to hold them all.
THE NECK HEEL
The sculpted heel of our neck-through builds gives full access to the upper frets and a rare playing comfort. It is one of the signatures of Quentin De Leeuw, Maître Artisan d'Art.
COMMISSIONING A DE LEEUW
Commissioning a De Leeuw instrument means entering one of the few French ateliers specialised in lutherie, where every guitar is entirely carved by hand.
Every commission begins with an appointment: at our Paris showroom, or during a trunk show in Los Angeles, Tokyo, New York… Every detail is chosen together, through to delivery in person.
Four disciplines on a single instrument: lutherie, fine cabinetmaking, marquetry and ornamental sculpture, under the hand of Quentin De Leeuw, Maître Artisan d'Art (master craftsman of the French métiers d'art).
