MIRAVAL STUDIOS
In December 2023, Miraval Studios commissioned a Nina Air guitar and an SC6 bass from De Leeuw for their reopening — our atelier's first studio partnership. Reimagined by Damien Quintard, the studios bring together the soul of analogue instruments and the finest digital technologies available today.
We shaped two bespoke instruments for them: the Nina AIR, fitted with piezo pickups, and the SC6 bass. Two pieces born of this meeting between French instrument-making and the sonic standards of Miraval.
"Very happy with our collaboration with the De Leeuw custom shop. They tailored instruments with us to reach precise textures that we appreciate here. The ability to offer & explore new soundscapes in Miraval is paramount, so our residents have an inspiring palette of beautiful tones to explore."

THE INSTRUMENTS MADE FOR MIRAVAL STUDIOS
The Nina AIR
Some instruments you tune; others you learn to tame. The Nina Air is one of the latter: a curved line, a walnut back that holds the light, a lightness that disappears from the very first note.
For Miraval, we fitted her with piezo pickups. From electro-acoustic to crunch, she opens a palette the studio had been looking for — one that few guitars can hold.
THE SC6
The SC6 borrows the curve and roundness of vintage basses, but sheds everything that weighed them down. Active, sculpted in walnut and maple, she keeps a deep, grounded low end while staying remarkably light on the shoulder.
One of the two instruments made for the reopening of Miraval.
