Quentin De Leeuw, Maître Artisan d'Art

On 8 July 2026, the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of the Île-de-France region (CMA Île-de-France) conferred on Quentin De Leeuw the title of Maître Artisan d'Art - lutherie guitare, at the ceremony of the 2025-2026 promotion.

This title is, in the Chamber's own words, the highest distinction awarded by the French Chambers of Trades and Crafts. It recognises an artisan for his experience, his qualification, the quality of his work and his commitment to passing on his craft. For the Île-de-France region, twenty-seven artisans were recognised in this promotion.


Quentin De Leeuw trained in the crafts of wood through four diplomas: CAP in ébénisterie, in marquetry and in ornamental carving, then a Brevet des Métiers d'Art in ébénisterie. At twenty-one, he opened his first electric guitar lutherie atelier. From that first atelier onwards, passing on has mattered to him as much as practising: apprentices train at his side. Ten years later, at just thirty-one, the Chamber recognised his mastery.


It is the meeting of four savoir-faire that makes the De Leeuw atelier, at Pont-Sainte-Maxence, singular: ébénisterie d'art, wood and straw marquetry, ornamental carving, lutherie, practised under a single hand. The electric guitar was born assembled; here, it is sculpted, from logs of French walnut and maple to the finished instrument.

At thirty-one, this title does not arrive at the end of a path: it opens what follows.
